The workshops
Observe, learn, carry on
07The workshops
The continuity
of craft
When a master passes on a craft, they share a way of observing, deciding and working that has taken years to acquire. Sustaining that knowledge will be part of the museum’s daily life.

Working workshops will be part of the museum’s daily activity. Visitors will be able to observe processes, speak with makers and understand the relationship between a material, a technique and the experience required to master it.
Masters and apprentices will work in spaces conceived with them. Demonstrations will coexist with real commissions and the production times each craft requires.
Work in progress will reveal a material culture that continues to develop.
An economy rooted in knowledge
Pieces will be available to buy or commission, with information about their makers, materials and production. The relationship with the maker will be part of each object’s value.
A platform will support commissions and contact with the workshops beyond the visit.
This activity will contribute to artisans’ livelihoods and the museum’s economy. Its development will address participation, remuneration and recognition of authorship.
A place to work and pass on a craft
The project envisages workshops with real production, commissions and apprentices. Visits will need to respect working rhythms and the needs of those practising their craft.
Artisans’ participation will be developed through agreements defining authorship, remuneration, terms of sale and the sharing of knowledge.
Stay connected after the visit
The future platform will introduce makers, present their pieces and allow enquiries about commissions. Its development will accompany the workshops; there is no shop or participation programme open yet.
Bring experience to the project
We invite artisans, craft schools and institutions to discuss how to build this space. We want to understand what they need to work, teach and sustain their practice.
